Burns Outdoor Obstacle & Laser Run - Winter Series #3

Event information

Late registrations for this event are closed.

The Burns Outdoor obstacle laser run event will be a hybrid event combining both laser run from Modern Pentathlon and a Spartan style obstacle course, as well as a timed sprint run through a more typical pentathlon style obstacle course.

Event 1: Obstacle Laser Run

This course will be up to 12 loops of between 250-300m in length with one obstacle typical of a spartan or tough mudder style course on each loop. Each lap will start with laser shooting, where you need to get 5 green lights on the target approximately 5m away, or wait for 50seconds to elapse. As soon as all five lights on the target flash, you will start on the running loop and complete the first obstacle on course before continuing the loop. At the completion of the loop, you will shoot much another round, repeating as many laps as you are able to do, with final loop to be commenced no more than 1hour after race start. Placings will be based firstly on number of laps completed, and secondly on fastest time.

You may have two attempts on any obstacle, after the second fail you must complete a penalty of one extra running lap or 30 burpees, or 3min time added, to be served or recorded before commencing your next round of shooting or next obstacle. There will be some officials on course to assist athletes in navigating the course and ensuring the safety of all competitors, but penalties will mostly be observed on an honour based system.

Event 2: Obstacle Sprint

This course will be somewhat representative of a typical pentathlon course with about 8 obstacles. If you fail an obstacle, you may re-attempt it, if you fail it a second time, you must move onto the next obstacle. Placings will be based firstly on number of obstacles successfully completed, and secondly on fastest time.
